Sunday, Dec. 8 – Peace

Today’s Scripture:
Micah 5:2-5a; Romans 8:5-11

It’s extremely difficult, if not impossible, to find true peace without God. We need Him so that we can have peace. Earlier this fall I was talking with my girlfriend about life and I found that there was something in my life that was causing some unrest. The conversation continued at youth that night with Andrew. After some discussion, I had determined to figure out what this thing was that was causing unrest. Andrew showed me another option. He said why don’t you just give the situation to God and ask Him to take care of it and ask for peace. I had never thought of doing that, so I tried it. Just simply asking God to take care of it and give me peace was probably the best thing I could’ve done. More importantly, I had peace. God gave me peace. Part of why God was able to give me peace was because I gave myself to Him. In Romans 8:6 Paul says, “The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace.” I gave my situation and my life to Christ so He gave me peace when I asked for it. So the next time you find yourself in the midst of chaos or turbulence remember that true peace comes from God. It won’t necessarily come when the chaos or turbulence lets up. In fact, God could even give you peace in the midst of that hardship if you would simply ask Him.

Mathias I love you so much and I will continue to be thankful for your spiritual discernment. I will work harder to be an instigator of peace sweetheart. I have begun to become nervous about your India trip, but I know that you will go with God’s peace, strength and guidance! Merry Christmas my spiritual, academic, athletic and driven young man. May you be particularly blessed in this Advent Season. Much love, Mom (shorty)
